Anyone used nvu successfully so far?

Hi,

I've just compiled (dpkg-buildpackage) nvu for amd64 and installed the
resulting deb. Compiler warnings aside all was well except that it
segfaults right away. :) So, I'm wondering whether it's due to me[*], or
amd64, or nvu. If anyone has successfully run i386 version of nvu here,
then at least one of the probabilities can be eliminated.

[*] I just did "dpkg-source -x" followed by "dkpg-buildpackage". Absolutely
no mucking around. (Even I shouldn't be able to botch it.)
FWIW, the output from the "file" command:

$ file /usr/lib/nvu-0.90/nvu-bin
nvu-bin: ELF 64-bit LSB executable, AMD x86-64, version 1 (SYSV), for
GNU/Linux 2.6.0, dynamically linked (uses shared libs), stripped

PS: nvu is in http://www.ubuntulinux.org/wiki/MOTUNewPackages wiki page,
and there's a download link there (src only).
