powerpc fn key functionality switch, and sound

Hi all

I tried out kubuntu live cd and after rebooting into macosx I found out 
the F1, F2, ... keys could be accessed directly without pushing the 
'fn' key, and the screen light and sound then had to be adjusted 
pushing the 'fn' key. This behaviour is the opposite to the macosx 
default.

In macosx 10.2.8 this cannot be adjusted from the System Preferences. 
Is there anyway to fix this to how it was before? Perhaps through the 
openfirmware?

Another issue: in the ibookG3 600 MHz the kernel 'live-powerpc' enabled 
me to play sound, but in a PowerBook G4 1GHz there was no sound.

By the way kubuntu 5.0.4 works great. I was impressed when I could 
apt-get Blender and run it as if it was a regular installation. Great 
job!
