vcdimager/vcdxgen charset problem

dear Users!

I have a Problem with the command vcdxgen. Every time when I start the command 
vcdxgen ........

example: 
vcdxgen MOVIE.MPG --nopbc -l MOVIE --volume-count=1 --volume-number=1  
--iso-application-id=TEST -t svcd

it fails with this Message:

**ERROR: charset conversion failed

Also k3b, if I create a VCD-Project and add a mpeg-Movie (the correct format), 
it fails with the same message.

My System is Kubuntu 5.04 with the latest updates from the net 
(vcdimager_0.7.20-2ubuntu1) . All the other funktions works fine, and my 
locale is set to:
