Thanks for the info on backports(when everything else fails read the
manual :)
however i can not find acrobat7 (no big deal, i got it installed)

read the code and compile for your (unique) setup and requirement.
I don't do it anymore but, but i did it for years.
looking back at it, I was far more conscious about what i installed.
sometimes synaptic, yast + makes the whole thing too easy.
i am not advocating to go back (dependency's can be hell to solve) nor
would i advocate that everything was better "before"
but building you own system is gratifying
so my question would then be, why use synaptic when you have the
source?
