Today's updates to 14.10 broke my #kde session

Hi folks, today's updates with the ppa-next enabled left me unable to log
in. "Could not start ksmserver. Check your installation." In a console I
checked, and ksmserver is part of kde-workspace-bin, which can't be
installed because it needs -data. Trying to install kde-workspace-data will
remove things like kubuntu-plasma5-desktop. I can't give the list typing on
my phone.
Suggestions?
