Is (K)Ubuntu using Kexec for restarts?

I just restarted my Jaunty notebook it booted lightning fast, without
the bios even showing up.
I assume this is the work of Kexec and some other low level sorcery, right? :)

All would be greate if it wasn't for one litle proble: when the system
boots this way my sound card stops working, complaining it can't get
IRQ 0 for itself :(

Just wanted to be sure about kexec and fast reboot before opening a
boot report on this one...
