Documentation has also been uploaded to Rosetta as well and we have great

= Kubuntu Development Newsletter =

This is the first Kubuntu newsletter, keeping you up to date with
current Kubuntu development. Read on for Shipit CDs, LinuxTag and the
Kubuntu Council.

== Shipit For Kubuntu ==

As part of an increased commitment from Canonical to Kubuntu orders
are now being taken for free Kubuntu CDs of version 6.06 to be
released at the start of June. You can get free CDs for PC and 64-bit
PCs.

  https://shipit.kubuntu.org/

== Kubuntu Council ==

Kubuntu will have a council to consider memberships for Kubuntu
helpers to Ubuntu and decide any other issue at Kubuntu meetings. By
general consensus the members for the first year will be: Jonathan
Riddell, Anthony Mercantine, Raphael Pinson, Tom Albers (our KDE
link), Sarah Hobbs and Achim Bohnet.

The next Kubuntu meeting is planned for Monday 22nd May at 21:00UTC on
#ubuntu-meeting.  All welcome.

== Kubuntu at LinuxTag ==

Kubuntu had a very successful stand at LinuxTag in Germany, many
thanks to the German Kubuntu people for answering so many questions
for the 4 days. Mirjam kindly wrote us this report

  http://kubuntu.org/announcements/linuxtag2006.php

On the Saturday several Kubuntu developers met with KDE developers and
Mark Shuttleworth to discuss better collaboration. Mark said how he
wants to employ more developers with a KDE background to the Canonical
distro team. Canonical will become one of the first KDE Patrons in a
new scheme being launched by KDE.

== Amarok 1.4 ==

Amarok 1.4 has been released and packages are available for Kubuntu.
Unfortunately release is too late to get into dapper.

== Rosetta Support ==

All of Kubuntu is now in Rosetta, the translation module of
Launchpad. Translating Kubuntu is now as easy as filling in a web
form. I'll be sending an announcement to KDE translators shortly to
discuss how best to take advantage of Rosetta.

== Development Status ==

With less than two weeks to go to release development is now in heavy bug
fixing
mode. The update to CUPS 1.2 seems to have fixed all the major
printing problems we were having. Ken Wimer has been touching up his
Dapper artwork, so everything looks really shiny. Luka Reno has done
a great job fixing various problems with knetworkconf.

The new live CD installer Ubiquity is looking really nice and I'm
getting a good number of reports of successful installs. Next week
will be the release candidate, please help us by testing the live CD
installer when that is released. Ping me (Riddell on IRC) with
reports of successful or unsuccessful installs.

Reports of successful or unsuccessful upgrades from breezy are also
very welcome, using sudo apt-get dist-upgrade or adept-updater.
