There are more issues with system:/
--------------------------------------
system:/ shows redundant information in taskbar and current tabs
--------------------------------------
When you navigate inside Konqueror in system:/home/ this "system:/home/" is
always shown in front of the current directory in following places:
- window caption
- taskbar entry on kicker
- tab inside konqueror
This is not the case for normal directories like /home/chris - if those are
used instead of system:/ only the current directory is shown in the mentioned
places. This enables us to distinguish between seperate konqueror windows and
tabs. If system:/home is shown in front the real important information will
not even be visible.
Though I missed the real gain system:/home brings I'm sure it's not that big
compared to it's shortcomings. media:/ is a different story, since Kubuntu
can't handle mounting another way. I therefor suggest that system:/home is
again replaced by /home/user.
--------------------------------------
system:/home disallows access to anything above /home/user
--------------------------------------
system:/home doesn't allow to change to anything higher than /home/user
without changing the sidebar.
Maybe that's even intended, but I don't think it's necessary as user's might
want to do administration (accessing /etc /media or something else) with the
GUI file manager instead of konsole.
It still is possible to change to something above /home/user when you first
click on <Home> on the toolbar, since that will still get you to /home/user
instead of system:/home. You then can go <up> normally.
Please don't change <home> to system:/home - that'd be really troublesome. My
point is that system:/home just brings new limitations, that have no obvious
security gain.
Just a visual glitch / cosmetic detail; thought I'd point it out anyway:
--------------------------------------
Detailed List View / Tree View in Konqueror
--------------------------------------
When files are selected in those views the selected filenames are marked blue
(that's ok) - but the background of those files' name column changes from
light blue to white. That looks as if it's not intended.
Here's the KDE bug:
