This bug was fixed in the package libspectre - 0.2.7-2ubuntu3

libspectre (0.2.7-2ubuntu3) vivid; urgency=medium

  * erase-page.patch: Some EPS files get rendered with black background.
    This patch fixes this. Thanks to Marek Kasik for this patch (LP: #1348384).
