this might help
I had mounted an ext4 file system image via /dev/loop0 then unmounted it just before starting the installation of kubuntu-desktop
I got this error message during the installation:

Setting up plymouth-theme-kubuntu-logo (1:11.04ubuntu14) ...
update-initramfs: deferring update (trigger activated)
Generating grub.cfg ...
loop: can't get info on device /dev/loop0: No such device or address
/usr/sbin/grub-probe: error: unknown filesystem.
dpkg: error processing plymouth-theme-kubuntu-logo (--configure):
subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 1
Processing triggers for initramfs-tools ...
update-initramfs: Generating /boot/initrd.img-2.6.38-13-generic
Errors were encountered while processing:
 plymouth-theme-kubuntu-logo
E: Sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (1)

I had to mount the file system image again to /dev/loop0, then the
installation could complete.
