Nixblicker, the only thing I can say is that for the majority of the
cases I've encountered since opening this issue, it seems that
installation of GoogleEarth is the culprit. If you have that installed,
that is likely the cause. The only solution I have found is a
reinstallation of the OS and NOT installing GoogleEarth. Apparently,
they don't play well with Ubuntu anymore.
