The firmware file /lib/firmware/dvb-usb-af9015.fw in linux-firmware-1.11
of jaunty seems a bit old (apparently v. 4.65.0).  If this file is
changed to v. 4.95.0 (as suggested by http://www.linuxtv.org/pipermail
/linux-dvb/2009-June/032211.html) the looping error message 'af9015:
command failed:255' with jaunty kernel 2.6.28-13-generic seems to go
away.  One place for the updated file is 'http://www.otit.fi/~crope/v4l-
dvb/af9015/af9015_firmware_cutter/firmware_files/'.
