Ah, that actually makes sense. KAddressbook's vcard 2.1 importer seems
to not honor the CHARSET setting.

This bug needs to be forwarded to http://bugs.kde.org to make the
KAddressbook developers aware of this issue (if there is not already a
bug report about that :))

** Changed in: kdepim (Ubuntu)
   Importance: Undecided => Low

** Changed in: kdepim (Ubuntu)
       Status: New => Confirmed

** Summary changed:

- bad vCard UTf-7 import
+ KAddressbook fails to parse CHARSET value of VCard 2.1 files

** Description changed:

- Binary package hint: kdepim
+ When the contact's name is using a defined CHARSET, KAddressbook refuses
+ to apply the CHARSET but imports the actual value.

- VCard files like
  BEGIN:VCARD
  VERSION:2.1
  N;CHARSET=UTF-7:;+BC8-
- TEL;CELL:+XXXX
- TEL:+XXX
+ TEL;CELL:+123
+ TEL:+123
  END:VCARD

- are import badly. Such files are received from Sony Ericsson phones.
- Evolution works fine with this files
+ Where the name should be "Я" (meaning "me") gets imported with the name
+ "+BC8-"

- ProblemType: Bug
- Architecture: amd64
- DistroRelease: Ubuntu 9.04
  Package: kaddressbook 4:4.2.2-0ubuntu1
- ProcEnviron:
-  LANGUAGE=

- SourcePackage: kdepim
