  which notes that this is a qt3-3.3.8 bug.  It is being tracked on the QT
  bug tracker here:

  and appears to be fixed in qt 3.3.9.  There also appears to be a patch
  to 3.3.8 floating around the mythtv mailing list (which might allow a
  faster fix than waiting for 3.3.9 in ubuntu):
