I also frequently have this bug on 2009-06-09, having run all updates using "Update Manager" (probably not any of them was related to this problem). 
My typical usage of Texmaker involves clicking the "Quick build" button a lot ..

On the TexMaker website an overview of the new version 1.9 (May 21 2009)says:
" Qt >= 4.5.1 is now required "

Side-note: kind of a dramatic bug in a text editor  :-P
