[Bug 339313] Re: Kubuntu Jaunty: Cannot Connect To Wireless Network with WEP shared key

Honestly, I've given up on this. The very fact that Kubuntu 9.04 was
released with such a HUGE bug further proves the third wheel status of
this distro. Ubuntu would never have been allowed out the door with such
a problem.

I could have used wicd all along and had this work, however I kept the
network manager plasmoid instead because I wanted to do my part with
testing and maybe find a way to fix it. Now, I am using wicd and I've
also given up on the fact that anything will ever be done about it. Even
if a fixed package was released, the reputation of Kubuntu has already
been tarnished and it will take a while for it to be repaired.

Kubuntu 9.04 was appalling overall, especially the network manager bug.
Sure, I didn't pay anything for Kubuntu, but in Kubuntu 8.10 this worked
fine and I don't feel holding off on including a package that barely
works was too much to ask for. (There is no excuse for regressions,
ever). This problem isn't even a bug, but an error in judgement in
whomever maintains this release.

I am hoping Kubuntu 9.10 returns to the good old days when quality
releases were put out. Until then, I am going to unsubscribe from this
bug tomorrow. All of my efforts in working to test this and get it to
work, and all of the work everyone else put into it was clearly for
nothing. As many hours as I have put into trying to fix this problem or
finding a way around it that works, I just want to wash my hands of it
now.
