[Bug 332421] [NEW] KDE 4.2 (kwin) causes a segfault in X

I installed KDE 4.2 from the kbuntu.org ppa (http://ppa.launchpad.net
/kubuntu-experimental/ubuntu). When I try to use it, however, it crashes
fairly soon after logging in. This happens at various times. One of the
times is when I click on a menu bar item. Xorg.log.old has the following
messages toward the end. There are a bunch of lines that look like X is
trying to guess my keyboard/mouse hardware, and then this:

I'm on Intrepid 32bit and using a nvidia geforce 8600GT with the 180.29 drivers compiled from the nvidia site.

EDIT: I think I narrowed the problem down to being in kwin. I can run
KDE apps just fine in gnome, unless I replace compiz with kwin (in
gnome). Then I get the same crash problem.
