I've added dontzap, as that it the package with the issue you are
investigating.

I do not see this as a true problem, but rather a consequence of poor
hand editing. Perhaps the dontzap package could choose to validate your
x config and if it fails offer some options, but this is getting way out
of scope. If you had the knowledge to mod the conf, then that sort of
puts the onus back on you. EXA is not the default (yet) for good reason.
When it is ready to be the default in the xserver and the associated
video driver, then these manual settings you have made will be obsolete
at any rate.

But, that's only my opinion :)
