Not processing PPA bugs anymore, since Kubuntu 8.10 is due in 3 weeks
and no further updates will be published to the PPA.

If you want, please upgrade to Kubuntu 8.10 (as described at
kubuntu.org) and help us test, for that matter, if you upgraded you
should reopen this bug and add an Intrepid backrace. There are just too
many parts which could cause this on Hardy.
