I´ve found that the problem is due to the lack of support combined with
scant advice re libdvdcss2. Since the original report I have done
several more 8.04 installs - mainly on variations of the same hardware -
and the stumbling block is always not being able to play commercial
DVDs. I understand the issues and like the way that these have been
dealt with in order to play MP3s.

This version of Ubuntu is great but badly let down by this flaw. People
will appreciate the fact that it is up to them - not the Ubuntu team -to
get libdvdcss2 if they get the right advice. The error messages show
that the cause of the error has not been identified and then used to
inform the user what to do to address the problem. Your response shows
that you have no idea of what the problem is. I re-tried once before
when I received a ¨please re-try" but did not stir again until recently.

Thank you for the great work. I´m only being critical because I want
Ubuntu to succeed.
