You have been subscribed to a public bug:

Binary package hint: xorg

In the kde systemsettings (guidance) you can detect and set the video
card. My VT8378 on board VIA card is detected as OpenChrome and the
driver "openchrome" is selected. When changing e.g. the resolution, it
will recreate a new xorg.conf and set the option "Driver" under the
"Section "Device"" to "openchrome".

When restarting X openchrome cannot be found, so X fails to start. When
manually changing the option "Driver" to "via" X will start.

There is a xserver-xorg-video-openchrome package, but it is not
installed. Right now I can't even install it, see bug #145279 . On the
other hand in Feisty I had it installed, but it still want you to use
the driver with the name via. I can imagine that, because it is doing a
rename according to the package-description.

Please fix this.
