[Bug 156671] KDM can't start, gives a sed error

My problem is described at

'/etc/init.d/kdm start' gives the following error:

    sed: -e expression #1, char 32: unterminated `s' command

I am forced to use GDM instead, which is suboptimal considering that I'm
using Kubuntu.
