Public bug reported:
Binary package hint: krec
After having successfully recorded sounds with praat and audacity, I tried krec.
Mixer settings were unchanged.
This is an IBM ThinkPad T41p running Breezy under KDE.
Package is 4:3.5.2-0Ubuntu0breezy1
PS the the package installer reports that it can't authenticate
I start krec, and from File pull down New.
Then I hit the red "Record" button. I see the Position being incremented.
I make some noises. I see no indication of these sounds. I stop the recording, hit the "Go to Beginning" button, and then the "Play" button.
Nothing. The Position is incremented, but I hear nothing.
The Krec settings are 44100 Hz, Mono, 16 bit.
OK. I'll bet it has to do with aRts, but I still don't know for sure.
I opened the aRts control tool, and it looks nice, but there's no
indication...Ok, now I pull down View...aRts Status, and it says that
"realtime scheduling" isn't configured. Of course this means nothing to
me, but that's the first indication I have that something isn't
configured right. Still no clue what to do about it.
If the problem is that aRts isn't configured right, this really should
be explained to the user when the failure occurs, and some pointer given
as to how to correct the problem.
** Affects: kdemultimedia (Ubuntu)
Severity: Normal
Priority: (none set)
Status: Unconfirmed
