On my updated dapper system: [light%] kde-config --localprefix /home/frode/.kde/ Looks good to me. I can not find anything in the package sources saying this is set to "--localprefix=/~/". Where do you find the reference to /~/ ? -- dapper kde compiled with incorrect localprefix https://launchpad.net/bugs/31988
