Public bug reported:
Binary package hint: kdeprint
When adding new printers via Kubuntu-Dapper System-Settings --> printers panel, these messages appear in ~/.xsession-errors:
---------------------------------------------------------------
ScimInputContextPlugin()
perl: warning: Setting locale failed.
perl: warning: Please check that your locale settings:
LANGUAGE = "en_CA:en",
LC_ALL = (unset),
LANG = "en"
are supported and installed on your system.
perl: warning: Falling back to the standard locale ("C").
*** glibc detected *** double free or corruption (!prev): 0x0816e838 ***
Entity: line 2486: parser error : Extra content at the end of the document
</printer>
^
printer 'HP-LaserJet_4P' not found!
kdeprint: WARNING: PPD syntax error, PPD parse failed
konsole: WARNING: Unable to use /usr/share/apps/konsole/mc.desktop
konsole: WARNING: Unable to use /usr/share/apps/konsole/sumc.desktop
---------------------------------------------------------------
The add-printer dialog then "pretends" to fail with a popup "Unabled to
load the requested driver", but in fact the driver *was* loaded and
printing works if one continues with the rest of the dialogs.
Screenshot (to be) attached with more info inside it.
Cheers
** Affects: kdebase (Ubuntu)
Importance: Untriaged
Status: Unconfirmed
** Attachment added: "screenshot of misleading "unable to load.." popup"
