Since I've got the new clean installation of Kubuntu Dapper Flight 2, I may
report something related to the sk98lin .I'm not really sure but it seems that
did a lot of trouble in installation. As I mention above during the installation
I loaded manually but the ethernet card actually didn't use it.
When got in first reboot in the new system, sk98lin wasn't loaded again. Then I
insert a line in /etc/modules: sk98lin and I reboot once again.
The second ethernet card wasn't loaded at command line: ifconfig. I defined eth1
in the /etc/network interfaces as:
iface eth1 inet dhcp
iface eth0 inet static
address 192.168.0.1
netmask 255.255.255.192
gateway my.gateway.I.P
# added by pppoeconf
auto eth1
auto eth0
and /etc/dhcp3/dhclient.conf with:
#send dhcp-class-identifier "NetcfgDHClient";
request subnet-mask, broadcast-address, time-offset, routers,
domain-name, domain-name-servers, host-name,
netbios-name-servers, netbios-scope;
With all these conditions above I tried:
sudo ifup eth1
and I've got this message:
Failed to bring up eth1.

I installed one of my vanilla kernel-2.6.15-ck1(final release) which I patched
with the most recent version of sk98lin driver from SysKonnect (compilation I
made was with header build in not module as the origininal Fligh2 has ) and at
first reboot into my kernel both eth0 and eth1 were shown up at ifconfig
command-line.
I'm not really sure that all info I reported helps the developers, probably
you'll need another output regarding this module..but for sure is something
wrong with it.
Regards,
Crisa
