[Bug 37210] Re: Network unavailable on boot

I have a similar problem at boot. Although I can reconfigure manually the network with ifconfig and route, it is not totally correct since I get network errors in some personal applications. I need to run

"sudo /etc/init.d/networking restart"

BUT it returns "failed" status. I then tried to run "ifup" and "ifdown" manually, and it gives errors while reading /etc/network/interfaces file.

I have two network interfaces (eth0 and eth1) but I only use eth1. Interface eth0 is not configured, and it appeared in "interfaces" file as "iface eth0 inet", but JUST this line appears. This is logical if the interface is not configured, but this line seems to be the problem for ifup/down programs. Commenting it fixed the problem and now "/etc/init.d/networking restart" returns "ok" state.

It seems to me that is a problem of "interfaces" file reading/writing by ifup/ifdown, etc.

Hope this helps.
