Manjo,
I competed cursory testing of the new firewire stack.
Video:
dvgrab, kino: Was able to control the camera and grab video and write to
file, both audio & video worked fine.
Harddisk:
I tested a LaCie 1TB that has USB2, FW400 & FW800. I tested both the
FW400 & FW800 by transferring 700GB of real files, to/from the firewire
drive to a 1TB sata internal drive. All files were checksumed prior and
the checksums matched after the transfers.
All in all I would say its stable enough for enabling in the development
kernels.
