This is off-topic, so definitely do not include this mailing list in any reply.
The junk characters will be from the serial port output, so it looks
like your system is booting, just the serial port is being setup by
userspace at something other than 115200 baud etc. Here, the kernel
isn't using hardware flow control and is fine.
