Hi,

I guess the intrepid kernel was frozen two days ago but I still wanted you to see this patch because it's high beneficial and also low risk (I think).

Basically for all of intrepid my X.org has frozen right after login on a brand new desktop box with intel G45 chipset.
I reported this bug a long time ago upstream and they've now produced a patch. I pulled eric anholt's drm-intel-next and then
I used git-format-patch to cherry pick this one particular commit and as it turns out this one commit was all that was needed
to fix G45 support.

I posted this bug to see if it was possible to get it merged into intrepid:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux-meta/+bug/285572

More discussion on this bug is available in this thread:
http://lists.freedesktop.org/archives/intel-gfx/2008-October/000356.html
And also in this upstream bug report:
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=17905

I've not asked anyone from Intel about whether it's safe or appropriate to cherry pick this one but for testing I know it works very well.

Martin
