building linux-restricted-modules?

hi folks, 

I'm trying to build a customized kernel and wondered whether there was a
sanctioned or anyway straightforward way to build
linux-restricted-modules for customized kernels.  It would certainly
simplify matters for me, and doubtless others, to be able to do this.  I
would be happy to post the instructions on the web if I can get some
pointers here.
