preemptive in kernel 2.6.11

Hi,

I'm recently new to Ubuntu but I'v run linux for some time now, I found 
that the kernel 2.6.10-5 ran fine on my laptop but I couldn't upgrade to 
any pre-packaged kernels. With some errorsearching I found that the 
kernel oopses on the preemptive part (more specificly when the 
gnome-panel starts). I belive that more than me have the same problem 
and just want you to know that I think you should make the next 
generation precompiled kernels for ubuntu without preemptive kernel so 
that the new users don't get the same problem that I did and leavs it 
there and goes to another operationsystem.
