I reopened this bug because I have just purchase a laptop HP-G62 and I have the exact same problem. "media player" hotkey is dead.
Hi,

I am using HP G62 with Ubuntu 10.10. My hotkeys "mail", "internet",
"calculator" work perfectly. However, "media player" does not work. It
does not generate any sequence. I tried

1. Preferences > keyboard shortcuts
2. xev
3. keymap (

all these methods do not capture the key.

If you need more information, please, let me know
