Same problem here on Lucid on an HP EliteBook 8530w. On resume the
screen is dimmed and to make things worse the brightness controls don't
function either (making it impossible to turn the brightness back up).

I've tried the solution mentioned in comment 31 & comment 38 but this
didn't help. brightness and actual brightness are are equal (both 24) so
the script has no effect :(
