Same symptoms for me with Lucid Lynx on my HP Mini 1000 (actually a
Compaq Mini 700), using a GMA 945 Intel display card.

When resuming from suspend to RAM, I need to use the "increase
brightness" function keys to restore to a normal/usable brightness
level.  Happens on battery and AC, does not matter.

Tried to play with "quirk" in HAL w/o success, eventhough the pm-suspend
--quirk-reset-brightness is working.

If I resume from sleep after this command, the brightness is OK (a tad
too much actually but is OK).
