** Description changed:

  Suspend and Hibernate menu selections in the menu that drops down from the user name in upper right corner when it is left clicked only start the screen saver on a Dell Inspiron 1545n running Karmic Koala beta that was updated around 6 PM 8-Oct-09 in Eastern USA. They do not suspend or hibernate the laptop.
  I do not know other ways to invoke Suspend or Hibernate.
