I think I too suffer from this, and that it has not been solved, when I
resume from suspend I cannot see any wireless networks in the applet,
and un-ticking then ticking 'Enable Networking' doesn't seem to help.
Also, when I run sudo /etc/init.d/NetworkManager restart, I get the
message sudo: /etc/init.d/NetworkManager: command not found.
