Yay!  Fixed for me in Karmic Koala!  Still not 100% sure I had the exact
same bug as everyone else, but I did notice some relevant-looking errors
in my /var/log/Xorg.0.log before upgrading.  If upgrading to Karmic
doesn't fix it for them, people may want to post their Xorg.0.log here.
