Same issue here, unfortunately.

My laptop is plugged in 99% of the time, and is almost always plugged in 
while booting. After reading this email, I unplugged it, and rebooted. 
The issue is still there for me when running on battery power. There's a 
good chance that this was never fixed properly, as this was the first 
time that I rebooted on battery power since reporting that it was fixed 
for me.

I didn't have the problem with the system locking up as noted below, 
once booted everything works fine.
