@Bart: thanx for your help. this seems a good solution and i can confirm
it works on my laptop.

so if any ubuntu dev should read this and feels bored ;) please provide
an update of acpi-support with Bart's corrections to those scripts. so
we would have this issue solved under intrepid by default and without
enabling laptop mode. :)
