Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: linux-image-generic

Standby (aka Suspension to RAM) does not work any more after updates of
the last two days.

After clicking to "Suspend" button the screen becomes black, than
prompts me for the password (as if I had just resumed it from standby).
After enterning entering the password on the tray appears a balloon text
message saying the system failed to enter standby and that I should read
the help.

Booting with the previous kernel 2.6.22.13.19 I can enter standby
without any issue. However I cannot use that kernel any more because the
nvidia-glx-new drivers do not work any more with it (I have to use nv
drivers and screen cannot go beyond 800x600)

I cannot say exactly what package is responsable for this issue, however the following packages were installed:
Upgraded packages:
linux-generic (2.6.22.13.19) to 2.6.22.14.20
linux-headers-generic (2.6.22.13.19) to 2.6.22.14.20
linux-image-generic (2.6.22.13.19) to 2.6.22.14.20
linux-restricted-modules-common (2.6.22.4-13.6) to 2.6.22.4-14.8
linux-restricted-modules-generic (2.6.22.13.19) to 2.6.22.14.20
linux-source (2.6.22.13.19) to 2.6.22.14.20
nvidia-glx-new (100.14.19+2.6.22.4-13.6) to 100.14.19+2.6.22.4-14.8
nvidia-new-kernel-source (100.14.19+2.6.22.4-13.6) to 100.14.19+2.6.22.4-14.8
Installed the following packages:
linux-headers-2.6.22-14 (2.6.22-14.41)
linux-headers-2.6.22-14-generic (2.6.22-14.41)
linux-image-2.6.22-14-generic (2.6.22-14.41)
linux-restricted-modules-2.6.22-14-generic (2.6.22.4-14.8)
linux-ubuntu-modules-2.6.22-14-generic (2.6.22-14.35)

By the way Suspension to Disk (aka hibernation) works well.
