I can confirm I have the same problem with my Averatec 3715-ED1 (using
via 8233/ac97). I am dual booting XP pro and dapper. It seems as though
as long as ubuntu is initially booted before xp (I generally hibernate
rather than restarting) it works. but if for instance xp is hibernated
and ubuntu is restarted i will get no sound at all. I haven't done alot
of testing on this hypothesis, but that seems to be the case.
