Public bug reported:

My laptop is rebranded "NETWORK", but it really is (as stated by a label on its rear) a "Gericom Webgine 1215E".
It's an old (built in 2001) Celeron 1.2G, 256M, SiS630 chipset, AMI 1997 bios, 20Gb Hd, DVD reader.

In Breezy it worked with ACPI by default (with hibernation support!).
Dapper Flight7, instead, uses APM on this laptop, since the BIOS is dated 1997.

>From dmesg: "ACPI: BIOS age (1997) fails cutoff (2000), acpi=force is
required to enable ACPI"

Sadly APM support on this laptop is crappy, incomplete and makes this
machine unstable (sometimes it tries to suspend even while I'm typing,
sometimes it freezes, etc.). Moreover the lid and the power button do
not work anymore.

If I run Dapper Flight7 with the "acpi=force" boot option, everything
works again.

I can't really test hibernation/suspend from the Flight7 LiveCD. I'll need a full install for that.
In Breezy, however, hibernation works, suspend does not; I expect Dapper to behave the same way.

To sum up: please, whitelist my laptop to make it use ACPI by default
:-)

** Affects: linux-source-2.6.15 (Ubuntu)
       Severity: Normal
       Priority: (none set)
         Status: Confirmed
