Pascal, this is not an indication that the new kernel does not work.
Maybe the old kernel already has corrupted your hardware and the new
kernel is just suffering from the consequences.

An indication if the kernel works would be running it on a fresh Dell
system or a recovered Dell system (removing all batteries to reset the
bios) and try out if the problem occures again. Unfortunately I can't
test this myself. I gave my D820 to a windows user. If the problem is
solved in dapper I may buy this laptop again.
