I had seen many ways to solve that issue after browsing the web
starting from the URL referenced in that issue.

In particular someone managed with a BIOS upgrade.

I would suggest to try various Live distributions, kernel 2.6 and
kernel 2.4. Find one that works. Report the issue to LKML...
