[Bug 38805] Re: parallel printer port

I can't print either through the parallel port with Dapper (updated daily). The output of 'dmesg' show that the printer gets detected at first:

- parport: PnPBIOS parport detected.
- parport0: PC-style at 0x378 (0x778), irq 7, dma 3 [PCSPP,TRISTATE,COMPAT,EPP,ECP,DMA]
- parport0: Printer, EPSON Stylus COLOR 460

but finally there seems to be a problem with the parallel port; last lines of dmesg output:

- ppdev0: registered pardevice
- ppdev0: negotiated back to compatibility mode because user-space forgot
- ppdev0: unregistered pardevice

Kernel version: 2.6.15-21
