[Bug 31887] Cannot Enable DMA on Hard Drives after upgrade to Dapper Drake

Public bug reported:
https://launchpad.net/malone/bugs/31887

Affects: linux-source-2.6.15 linux-image-2.6.15-15-386 (Ubuntu)
       Severity: Normal
       Priority: (none set)
         Status: Unconfirmed

Description:
After upgrading to Dapper Drake, DMA is now not enabled on some of my
hard drives. I cannot enable it with hdparm; it returns as shown below.

chris at murf-box:~$ sudo hdparm -d1 /dev/hda
/dev/hda:
 setting using_dma to 1 (on)
 HDIO_SET_DMA failed: Operation not permitted
 using_dma    =  0 (off)

Oddly enough, my /dev/hdg drive works fine, it's just /dev/hda and
/dev/hdb that seem to be at fault. I think PDC202XX_NEW takes care of
HDG. I believe that perhaps there is not support for my motherboard /
North Bridge, which controls the primary IDE interface perhaps? My
Motherboard is a Gigabyte GA-7VAXP with a Via KT400 North Bridge.

This was not a problem with Breezy. I have pasted a whole buncha
potential debug info below.
