Comment:
"/etc/iftab assigns the name "eth0" to a card which isn't the card in
your machine."
Why is it not a bug? I've never messed up with iftab before and absolutely nothing has been changed in hardware level. Since the file not coming from any package, I assume its created by some app, may be udev.
ls -la /sys/class/net/
total 0
drwxr-xr-x 4 root root 0 2006-02-15 09:57 ./
drwxr-xr-x 20 root root 0 2006-02-15 09:58 ../
drwxr-xr-x 3 root root 0 2006-02-15 09:57 eth0_clashed/
drwxr-xr-x 3 root root 0 2006-02-15 09:57 lo/
Its been assigned that name via udev. Is changing /etc/iftab the correct way to remedy this? I feel that I really shouldn't manually change this file.
