Public bug reported:
https://launchpad.net/malone/bugs/31431

Affects: linux-meta linux-source (Ubuntu)
       Severity: Normal
       Priority: (none set)
         Status: Unconfirmed

Description:
Many users are misled by a kernel driver package (tarball) that
describes itself as needing the kernel source.

These users typically use synaptic to search for the kernel source and
end up installing the linux-source package when they should be using the
linux-headers package.

Can the long description of the linux-source, linux-headers and linux-
headers-(xx-xx-xxx) be edited to alleviate this problem?

Example:
Linux-source:
"This package provides the source code for the Linux kernel version 2.6.12. If you need to compile a kernel driver module for the default Ubuntu kernel, do not use the linux-source package, but use a linux-headers package instead."

Linux-headers-2.6-xx-xx
"This package provides kernel header files for version 2.6.15 on 386. Use this package to build a kernel module (driver) for the kernel without having to recompile the whole kernel from source.

Please read /usr/share/doc/linux-headers-2.6.12-10/debian.README.gz for
details.

Some third-party kernel modules require the full linux source to be
built, but most only require the headers. Try this package first."

...or something like that.
