Ben,
I tried the new 2.6.15-21 kernel which has the aic79xx driver from 2.6.17-rc synched and there are big problems:
When booted a large number of aic79xx kernel error messages appear. They fly rapidly accross the screen however they all seem to mention a
"spipopulate"
error
The system then hangs waiting for a root file system suggesting that the hard drive (also handled by aic79xx as it is a seagate scsi drive) is not being seen because of the above kernel errors.
I have tried the 2.6.17-rc2 kernel as well and it works as well as the rc1 version although I do notice somewhat more kernel warning messages. These do not appear to affect functionality however.
